Dreamachine is the most experimental part of the Hot Zone project. The video was generated through a neural network trained on a vast dataset of images of galaxies and planets, with the aim of exploring the nature of dreams and REM sleep phases. The choice to use a neural network to create the image is based on the theory that during the REM phase of sleep, the human brain generates images based on data collected during wakefulness. In this sense, Dreamachine becomes an artificial document that seeks to recover and reconstruct the memory of what happens during sleep. But it's not just the image that's artificially generated: the sound is also created using another form of artificial intelligence. The music is made by following sound patterns. This way, the work becomes an immersive audiovisual experience.
